Interview with Roxanne Rhoads

1. Tell us a little bit about yourself. How does your day go? What keeps you writing?

What keeps me writing? Hmmm probably the voices in my head. No seriously. If I don;t let those characters out and give them life on paper (or the computer/ereader screen) they will drive me crazy.
Lately I haven’t had much time to write since I’ve been so busy with Bewitching Book Tours and they’ve been doing exactly that. It’s time to set aside some time every day and get back to my words.

2. What brought you to writing erotica? What do you love about it?

I started writing erotica because sex and sensuality were always a very big part of my life. I actually started with essays and sex help/relationship articles , then I moved on to erotic poetry then to fiction. I love the imagery, the intense emotion that it can illicit and that erotica is a an amazing way to explore sexual fantasy… whether my own or others.

3. What are you working on now?

I am working on my erotic poetry manuscript. I hope to finally bring it to life and offer it to others to read. Almost all of the poems have been published somewhere but they have never appeared in one collection all together before.

4. What is your—or your character’s—favorite erotic book? Sexy movie? Sex toy?

Oh wow, I have way too many books on my favorites list to pick one. I loved it when Laurell K Hamilton first started adding the erotic scenes to the Anita Blake series, the imagery was very intense. I’m also a big fan of erotic anthologies. The first ones I read that led me to erotica were the Secrets collections, one in particular that featured a vampire story by Angela Knight and then there was Erotica Vampirica edited by Cecilia Tan and I was hooked- especially on vampire erotica.
I’m not sure if I have a favorite movie based on sexiness. That’s a hard one because mainstream movies often cut out the more sensual scenes, late night cable movies are more edited porn (not to mention usually extremely cheesy) and porn is more of a base turn on based on pure sex where I like a slow burn, a build up, a tease of sensuality.
And a toy….let’s just say I much prefer the real thing over toys 😉

5. What’s the one thing you’ve always wanted to do? The top thing on your personal bucket list?

I want to travel to Europe- Scotland, Ireland, Italy, Paris- those are the top destinations on my list.

6. What’s your personal romantic (or erotic) fantasy?

I’m not going to divulge too many details but let’s just say it involves a hot summer day or night- and rain. 😉
